How the cut works
The slides sit side by side as one long strip, and your picture is scaled to fill that strip, centred, with any overflow cropped. Each slide is then drawn from its own part of the picture at 1080 px wide, so the edges meet exactly when a viewer swipes.
For the sharpest result, start with a picture at least as large as the strip. The table gives the size for each number of slides. A smaller picture still works, but it is enlarged to fit.
What makes a seamless carousel work
Keep faces and words away from the cut lines: a face split across two slides reads as a mistake, while a horizon, a table or a wall carries across cleanly.
Let something cross each cut on purpose. A line, a shape or an object that starts on one slide and ends on the next is what tells a viewer to keep swiping.

Questions
What size are the slides?
Each slide is 1080 px wide: 1080 × 1080 for square, 1080 × 1350 for 4:5 and 1080 × 1440 for 3:4. They are saved as high-quality JPEGs.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. It is cut in your browser and the slides are saved straight to your computer.
Will the slides lose quality?
Not if your picture is at least as large as the strip. A picture that is smaller is enlarged to fit, which softens it; the tool tells you the size it needs.
Part of my picture is cut off. Why?
The picture must fill the whole strip, so whatever does not fit its shape is cropped evenly from the two long edges. Change the number of slides or the slide shape until the preview shows what you want.
